Key synching - 1999 W202 C Class

Morning all

I wonder whether anyone can help with this query. Last night I couldn't lock my W202 using the keyfob. The batteries were fine and I tried again this morning with no luck, but the spare key worked fine.

I decided to use the old key to start the car. The old key started the engine as normal and now is locking and unlocking the car as normal. So I assume I have successfully resynchronised the key.

My question is am I right in thinking I've sorted the problem and is it likely to happen again?
