I hear that a sky dish can be used for a freesat signal.

is it possible to get both a sky box and a freesat signal working from the same cable?

thinking that I could go down the route of getting a new tv (see other thread) with freesat built in?

Each reciever needs a seperate feed from the dish so normally you would fit a dual lnb and run 2 cables from the dish 1 to each reciever.

so it is feasible!

We will be getting Sky+ so I guess that the cable is already split into two for that, but doing it again doesn't represent any issues?

As already said, you cannot split or share the cable, you will need a separate feed from the dish LNB for each receiver. If your getting Sky+ then this needs two feeds and a twin LNB, if you want to add another receiver then you will need a quad LNB and another cable drop. I would bung the Sky installer an extra few quid and get him to do it for you.
