I thought I would try a technique that I have been meaning to try for a while now. I only spent about 15 mins on it as a test really but wanted to see what you think.

Nice one thumbup

Try moving the camera down a bit to capture the "disturbance" in the water.

A strawberry thrown in with a twist works well for this...

I wanted to get the camera mounted in portrait on the tripod but with the lens and flash the manfrotto doesn't grip so i was limited with the angle. I also wanted to use a strawberry as it has a bit more detail and texture but all I had was a tomato.

As a test i think it was alright as it has taught me a few things to use next time. I also tried dripping blackcurrent juice in water but that may take a little longer to perfect me thinks.

This is my only attempt at a water drop type shot.

It's OK, but to get a really good one you need a lot of patience, and possibly 500-1000 shots. You can see the settings here: http://www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=7827...

IIRC I just had a flash above the sink and shot handheld. 34 out of 101 entries wasn't bad. Macro lenses work wonders on these kind of shots.
