Xbox 360 ELite Data Transfer

Morning lads, im getting an elite and need to transfer all my saved games and other info on to the new 120gb HDD, now ive got less then no idea how I would do this as ive got 200mb left on my current 20gb HDD because of FM3!

Has anyone here done that or does anyone know how t do it?

you need to send off for the cable and CD from m'soft. i borrowed one off a mate!! where do you live as i still have it??

Microsoft give away a free data cable, but you have to fill out a form to get it.

In sussex mate can the cable be used more then one time then as I heard there is a CD with it aswell that you need to use?

Sorry bit far, you can use it as many times as you like once you have it. if it was mine id post it.... but its not.

The CD that comes with it controls the transfer, did it last week, took about 20 mins, the cable took about 2 weeks to arrive from MS

So do you need a CD and if so do you get it with a cable? Im lost someone please clarify

I'm down the road in Church Crookham and your more than welcome to pop over once you get your elite and grab my old transfer cable and disc. When I ordered my cable set it took about 4 days to arrive from MS.

Erm you dont need windows, Basically. On the cd case it tells you how to hook up the cable, then you put the disc in and follow on screen instructions. it really is that easy!!

Just a reminder - if you're transferring games across to a new XBox/HDD, you'll want to migrate your licences across to the new one, otherwise DLC won't work if you're not connected to XBox Live.

You can only do it once a year (not including refurbished XBoxes which Microsoft transfer for you).

Any content you download is linked to your XBox Live account, which is associated with one Xbox. If you transfer the data to a new XBox, it will only work if you are signed into XBox Live - if the internet or XBox Live is down, your games with downloaded content will not work.

The data cable transfers the data across, but not the right to use it offline. You need to migrate the licences across so that your XBox Live ID is associated with the serial number of the new XBox.

It sounds complicated but it only takes a couple of minutes online, and tidies up all your DLC to your new XBox.

Yeah I know what you mean recover the GT from Xbox online, i wont be using it offline so all good. Does that mean I can use the cable that has been used befre then by someone? If so jobs a gud un

Do you have to do all that @ www.xbox.com?

i'm not sure if this is in all gamestations but

go into gamestation

ask them about the data transfer cable - put a £10 refundable deposit down - they'll lend you one - u do ur stuff and return the cable and if u want trade in the old one

if they ask say u bought the forza 3 pack from them a few days ago

I did this when I got my Elite. You simply fill in the form, putting your new Elite serial number and your old console's serial number on it, and in a few days they send you the data transfer kit, which consists of a transfer cable that plugs into your old HDD and into the USB socket on the back of the machine. You run the CD and it copies your old drive contents to the new drive.

The kit is free, all you do is fill the form in.
