Bought a 2nd hand Canon 5D - brilliant upgrade on my 10D. Except, the actuation button. Whilst it does work it reminds me of a Sinclair Spectrum keyboard.

I assume this isn't normal - anyone have any idea if it's a big deal to replace it?

Exactly! My 10D's button has a two stage feel if you know what I mean. You press it half way to achieve focus - whereupon you feel resistance, then you press beyond that to take the picture. The 5D button feels a tad 'mushy' i.e. as Ian says 'no tactile feedback', no two stage senstation.

Just wondered if that was normal for this model (figure it probably isn't) and whether it's a big deal to have a ser vice centre replace it.

Cheers

Thanks Stig - I'll call a service centre Monday and get a quote.

BTW what software disks come with it as standard?

Cheers

as standard you get basically very old out of date drivers and software

if you go to http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010252.... you can get all the software, to install it (without cd) you need to add keys to your registry. If you are running XP I have a file (it may work on vista too)

Basically when the software installs it looks in the registry to see if you have installed previously from the CD, this just fools it to think you did so installs. There is no point installing 4 year old software when you can install the latest
