W202 2.4 V6 Oil Change Advice Needed

Hi folks, I’m new to this corner but normally lurking around in other areas – I am looking for some advice with regards carrying out an oil change on the wifes W202 2.4 V6 (C Class). Unfortunately the car is now getting to the age where its not worth spending 100’s at main dealer for a service so I have decided to do what I can myself (no big issues there). Is there anything / show stoppers that I need to lookout for when changing the oil filter? Is it as straight forward as im hoping it to be???

I've a similiar engine 2.8 V6 and as far as I know it's a straightforward job. The only thing to bear in mind is that they take approx 8.5 litres of oil.

Really, as much as that??? Thanks for the tip though, i had better go and get another 5 litres of oil before i drain the old (im sure my 6litre V8 Monaro doesnt take that much!!)

The engine oil capacity is so high in order to extend oil change intervals. All things being equal, 8 litres of oil will degrade slower than 4.

Oil and filter done (amongst other things), service light reset after a few attempts ... Oil filter change is a bit of a messy job, unless i was doing something wrong??? 8.5 litres of oil later and its ship shape. However, i can't see why it should need as much oil, the service interval is only 10K so its not really a prolonged oil change by any manufactures standards... Thanks for the advise though folks...

Well done, what condition is the ATF in? If it hasn't been changed in the last 40K miles, I'd do that next. It's not that much more difficult than an engine oil change and definitely a good investment. There are how-to's on mbclub.co.uk. It's normally advised to change the oil in the differential at the same time.
