Cars that shouldn't be popular but are
Discussion
As there's a thread about the opposite of this going on at the moment I thought this one might spark some discussion....
My nominations are:-
Peugeot 307 - less reliable than a French builder, dull to drive, boring to look at pseudo MPV rubbish. Worse in most areas than the 306 it replaced yet it still sold well. The CC model gets a special mention for also being catastrophically ugly as well as being generally terrible.
Audi Q7 - it's probably well built, pretty decent to drive and reliable but who really needs something that massive. I was parked next to one on a ferry in my old mk3 Mondeo and it felt like I was driving the Lotus as this thing towered over me. At my little sisters boarding school one of the parents has one and it dwarfs even the MLs and Cayennes in the car park!
Chevrolet Matiz - just about passable as a garage courtesy car but why anyone would buy one with real money is beyond me. It's made out of plastics McDonalds wouldn't put on top of their coffee cups and has an engine which a food blender would be embarrassed of. It's so narrow you rub shoulders with your front seat passengers and it looks like some kind of kids toy.
BMW 116i M Sport - how small must your penis be to buy this car
So, over to you guys, anyone saying MX5 or 335d gets violated with an electric cattle prod

Great car.I nominate the Vauxhall Vectra.
I nearly put the Vectra - always average at best, there have always been better options, whatever your priorities are.

I saw the thread title and instantly thought of the Peugeot 307 - then I saw you nominated it yourself! I was driving my girlfriends the other day and it's bloody awful in almost every way! Why on earth do the clutch pedals vibrate and rattle on 307s and the new 308s!?
I agree - Peugeot has lost it in a big way - 307 is a hateful car and i suspect an utter disapointment to ownCome to think of it, I can't think of a single car in their current line up I would want to own

Ford Escort MK3 or newer (cosworth accepted - not really an escort anyway)- People I talk to still harp on about what a good car they are - how exactly? is it the woolie chassis? The poor build quality? The rust? The gutless oil burning engines? HOW ARE THEY A GOOD CAR???
true, the mk1 and mk2 are still talked about, and highly regarded, the 3 and 4 and barely remembered with a few turbo examples hiding in dehumidified garages owned by die hard ford fans, but the rest (apart from the cosworth which most people still tip their hat to) have been consigned to the few cars that be picked out in the background on pictures in 20 years time with people asking what they wereGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
