...the Janspeed factory?

Just a quick post to see if there was any interest in running a dyno day in Salisbury.

I am doing some voluntary work for them and it is a pretty interesting place with a bit of history.

They have a 4WD rolling road that can support 1000bhp per axle, so no 335d's please!biggrin

The runs would be pretty cheap if we can get over 15 people and AFRs would be monitored and logged throughout. Afterwards, or during if a lot of people come, we can show you round the factory and show you what Janspeed do. I suspect we could offer further discount for prebooked slots...

I am presuming a Saturday morning would be the best, if you have any date suggestions please say. Try to avoid clashing with the 01/11 sunday service weekend if possible.

As I know Salisbury quite well, a little drive afterwards could be arranged if the majority want.

Let me know what you think?

I'd be interested. you may find a few other viper owners would also be keen as we had a similar day cancelled recently.

I'd be interested in a RR run, depending on the date and cost. The factory tour sounds interesting too.

Thanks for the response and interest so far.

I will try and find out a confirmed cost by the end of today, as said it will be cheaper for people who pay upfront.

Crackle if you could see if they would be interested that would be great. I don't want to intrude on their plans as an 'outsider.'

The factory tour is something that would interest any petrol/piston head. This will be free to everyone, even if not running on the dyno. The only issue is that after the tour you'll want to rebuild your engine to make it bigger and better afterwards!

I'd be interested to see what 20,000 miles of hard slog has done to my previous 139.8 bhp!

Be interested to see what the VR is actually making. If the dates are free then count me in.

I have the prices. I am pretty sure this is the cheapest you are likely to get.

2 wheel drive vehicles - £25 if pre paid
4 wheel drive vehicles - £30 if pre paid

If you can't be sure of your attendance until the last minute and want to turn up on the day, it will be an extra £5. This is as cheap as it gets, even at mates rates on another dyno, I was paying £30. Normal members of the public will be charged more, so mention pistonheads when booking.

So dates? Perhaps the 7th or 14th of November? The only saturday which is a potential sticky one for us is the 5th of December.

I could be up for this, but my clutch has just started slipping if it lasts until then or I can get it changed before then I will be there (and it’s not chucking it down)

Give me the chance to confirm whether my engine is what they said it was when I bought it!

£25 sounds OK to me, and at the moment 7th or 14th Nov are OK. I take it that we would need to contact Janspeed direct to make a booking, when the date has been confirmed?

MgBond, you certainly can, the machine is a Dynojet and measures WHP.

I forgot to mention, you will get 2 runs and the corrosponding printouts.

Darkmatter, yes that is correct. Once the date is confirmed you would need to have booked and paid for your place at least 2 days before the dyno day to get the cheaper price.

Time to start a list? Which might make choosing the date easier.

1. Jon_Bmw (Pug 205 or 540i) - i'll only run at the end if there is time.

I could well be up for this if I have not put the VX into hibernation. Be interested to see what is making before winter mods.
