Cleaning my TVR!

Ok - so i've got back from a 3k miles trip around Europe

I've spent a trillions pounds on Autoglyms finest......and yet

I can't get the dead bug blood of my nose!?

WHat am I doing wrong? Should I be using Autoglym Tar Remover on the FB?

i've tried 'Mer' (as seen on tv) polish

Spent a few hours on Sunday giving it a good old workover.......and yet still - the pesky dead bug remains , well remain.

Anyone else had this problemo?!

Boil the kettle and pour into a bucket. Add cold water until you can just about stand to put your hand in it, then soak some old tea towels in the water and drape across the front of the car. Wait until they have cooled and the bugs will simply wipe off.

Wet wipes work really well, don't know why but they do

If your paintwork is absolutely pristine you'll be horrified by this but I use bathroom sponge scourers, they are a very gentle version of those sponge with green scourer attached things used in the kitchen . .

No No No No No No.

Do not do this unless you want to end up having your car resprayed. - Seriously.

Get some tar remover. I think AutoGlym even make some. The stuff I use is called tardis, but for gods sake DO NOT use anything abbrasive! The amount of threads i've seen and people I know that have used scouring pads and the like are very common, shortly followed by a thread titled "Anyone know of a good company for re-sprays..."

If you need help go to detailing world, but anything off the shelf in Halfords should shift it just fine

AutoGlym Motorbike cleaner.

Comes with a spray on top of the bottle - spray on bugs, leave for short ammount of time (don't let dry out), may need to agitate with a brush or sponge, wash off.

Works for me on motorbikes and the Cerbera.

As already said, damp towel, but if this dosn't shift, get some detailing clay, this will defo sort the problem out.

I use speed detailer from Meguiars it works but it's gentle.

no offence,but no way would i do this.

Get some ,WURTH active glass cleaner , its a foam spray
or there motorcycle cleaner ,both the same product ,
just 1st ones a lot cheaper,
cleans off bugs in a flash
trust me i was a rep for them 4 years ,

A clay bar will remove them. TBH if you have just got back from a long road trip I would highly recommend claying the whole car after you wash and before you wax it.

I've got a small sponge that has a soft cris-cross netting of white material surrounding it. This gets the bugs of really well, don't have to scrub at all. Don't even need any tar n glue or anything just plenty of soapy warm water. As long as you make sure you have plenty of wax on the car you'll never scratch the laqueur. One of my best halfords purchases to date.

Please tell me you aren't serious

Under no circumctances should you use a scourer on your paintwork...ever !!

1. Warm Wet tea towel, lay over bug splats.
2. Drink coffee/beer , admire any passing women
3. Remove tea towel, use damp dishcloth with a teensy bit of fairy liguid to gently rub off bug splat.
4. If above fails lay a baby wipe on it for a minute or so then rub off bug juice with the same wipe.


oh and....

5. Take an ear bashing from the mrs for getting oil on her best tea towel
6. Take another ear bashing when she cant find the dishcloth

I had one of those, and they're very good. I lost mine, no idea where it went. Oddly, my son has one now and has no idea where he bought it...

next time cover the front of your car with cling film, go for a drive and then remove bug covered film.

works for me everytime.
