Quick question...

What happens if/when I remove the two connectors marked on the picture below?

I don't want to disconnect and find I have fuel pouring out all over - that's if they are fuel related - not being that mechanically minded I'm not sure what they do or what they are connected to at the other end Am I safe to undo them?

Between the masking tape there is a little thing looks bit like a tyre valve. take the cap off, hold some rag around it and press the centre pin with small screwdriver or similar (just like letting a tyre down) this will release any pressure in fuel system ( may not be any if engine not been run for a while) and pipes can then be disconnected, small amount of residual petrol may come out. seal everything off well, this is "clean side" of fuel filter, you really don't want any muck getting in here ! .

Just out of couriosity what you doing to engine ?

Just following on from last winter - cleaned all the 'top half' last year and now going to set about sprucing up the 'bottom' half of the engine - get it all nice and 'shiny'.

Also, keeps me out of the hair of SWMBO during the winter evenings
