I'm told you need to put a £10k deposit down to get on the waiting list, and then another £10k when you choose the spec. Apparently 200 names on the list already in the UK, with date of production unclear, but this is probably the 2010 UK allocation already sold (or at least provisionally ordered). List price 'in the region of £150k to £175k' - presumably before extras.
Iv had my name down since 05 and deposited 2.5k, then in the last year I have increased it to 10k. All i have been told is that i have the 2nd from Merc world. My deposit is still refundable and im waiting to see how much the car will be before making my mind up fully.
Im not keen on taking a bath on this like most amg's but i did hope this maybe different but if they put 200 cars in the uk in the first year alone i doubt it will be.

Style over substance but nonetheless the best high performance Mercedes-Benz probably since the 450 SL C 5.0.
Why so? Well, the gullwing doors are a gimmick dictated by brand heritage rather than engineering necessity. The car still is very heavy. It has a lot of unnecessary rubbish which short-term buyers want. I rather like it, though.
It is disappointing that the buyer of the "2nd car from Merc world" (or whatever) is worried about "taking a bath" on it. If I had the means (and the will) I would be looking to purchase the car for constant use over a 30 to 50 year period. I wouldn't care a hoot what it was "worth" at any time after my purchase.
I would want mine in 751 liasgrau or 740 pastelgrau non-metallic paint with blue/grey wide-check cloth seats, no head rests, no spac-nav, no electric television (indeed, no electric anything), concealed exhaust pipes (why-oh-why do we have these stupid styled exhaust pipes), comfort suspension and tall profile tyres. Most of all I would require a 130litre petrol tank and extra-loud air horns.
I would definitely want rid of the max power petrol flap. Ugh!
Unfortunately, there are only two new cars worth having: Rolls Phantom Coupe and Bristol Fighter S. The modern world is proof if ever it was needed that "more" really means "worse".

I agree that its a shame that i have to worry about taking a bath on a car that will probably be in excess of 150k but unfortunately i am not made of money and due to this "taking a bath" is a concern. If in the mean time im lucky enough to win the euro lottery or be the first to hear of the fed reversing qe i wont give 2 hoots of what it will be worth, ill be sure to keep it for as long as possible. 
Back in the real world, I feel i have lost enough on new cars and I am not willing to purchase a car for 150k in 2010 to be able to buy a very nice example in 2012 for 100k unless i have money to burn and at the point of me writing these last 2 posts i do not and for that i apologise(to myself).
