reprogramming odometre on C5
Discussion
If it's anything like the C4 it's pretty involved. According to my factory owner's manual the mileage reading is controlled by the CCM (behind the ac / stereo controls in the centre of the dash). It needs to be programmed with the new mileage reading "within 100 miles" of installing, or it cannot be programmed again (according to the manual, some may know otherwise...).
For a C4 you need a tech 1 diagnostic tool (tech 2 for OBD2 used from 96) fitted with a "chassis cartridge".
Supposedly then only a GM dealer can do it not that there's great choice over here. Personally I'd contact Geoff Jeal first before maybe contacting Bauer Millett as a last resort.
Don't know if I'd trust any of the numerous "mileage correctors" (why would a car normally need its mileage corrected) that advertise in Autotrader / E&M unless they have GM experience.
Just my 2c worth.

Thanks malc350. I tried all them out of the trader yesterday and none of them said they could do it.I tried to get hold of Geoff Jeal but no answer so I'll try him again today. Like you say, BM is literally just down the road for me but i'm gonna leave ringing them till I have to. Cheers, Paul.
Not quite sure what you mean by "reset"? "Clocking" the mileage would be very difficult as I bet there is an anti-tamper facility on it.
You have a European spec car, but you bought an instrument cluster in the US? If the US one you have is like mine, it will only go to 200mph not 300.
The US cluster and the European ones are different, you should get a Canadian spec cluster as this is the same as the European one.

I've nothing to add in this post, apart from "Hi Paul, hope fatherhood & life are treating you well?".
Hi ya Paul, I didn't know you'd joined this forum. Fatherhoods great but damn tiring. I'll catch up with you soon Paul.
I'm aware of what you say vetteheadracer but they aren't the sort of item you come across that often. Our friends across the pond try to get hold of the euro spec clusters with 300 mph on and the lucky ones who get them just swap the unit for theres and have had no problems. If it works that way with mine but visa versa I can live with 200mph.
I'll try and give you a bell tonight Geoff.
Cheers all, Paul.
