"They are loud and bark all the time" a classic indicator of a moron dog owner who has neither the interest, intelligence nor consideration to look after them properly.
Unfortunately breeds like this are owned by a certain minority as a 'hard man trophy' and will, no doubt be adorned with leather harnesses and studs, the lack of self respect and education these people have makes them, by default, the worst possible owners of such demanding pets.

Cue a series of posts to tell you that "Staffies" are lovely, sweet-natured dogs.

All dogs come with a certain amount of hunting, killing and pack instinct as standard. Humans have bred it into them over thousands of years because it was useful to us:

I've been around a few council estates in recent years and am totally amazed at the proliferation of dogs - some houses had them in front and back yards - and also at how few of them were out being exercised. Two dogs or more, especially powerfully built breeds, kept confined and without proper exercise and stimulation is a recipe for exactly this sort of incident.

It is very unfair to blame the dogs or specific breeds - which then get consigned to death row in pet rescue centres when their original (chav) owners abandon them, because prospective second owners unfairly assume them to be more of a risk than other dogs.

In this case the owners however, should bear the majority of the responsibility.

That maybe true, however in this case the "loud and bark" comments were made by the next door neighbour wink

Who had dogs and said that the dogs involved in the attack for calm enough for her to let her daughter feed them through the fence...

If chavs were more inclined to keep Yorkshire terriers or Poodles, we'd see a lot more attacks by those breeds.

Furthermore, if you keep any breed of dog - escpecially two or more dogs together - cooped-up, without proper, routine exercise, you will have behaviour problems.

Sorry ! if thinking that no-one needs 3 Rottweillers
in a small terraced council house. Except, maybe to deter a visit
from Plod, makes me an "idiot " in your estimation, then so be it.
Personally, I'd prefer to see dogs bred and used for purpose.
So are you pointing the finger of blame at the dogs or the idiot that owns them

I mean that out of the dozen or so staffies i come into contact with regularly i really only trust the females to not try and bite me.

the young males if undisciplined (which most are) are little sods.

Strange.
Do you mean actually try to bite you?

I've never had a staffie of either sex show any aggression towards me. Quite the opposite in fact.
In my experience...they're one of the few breeds I feel I can confidently approach which i've never met before.

There are obviously the exceptions (due to upbringing), but it is in no way in their nature to be aggressive to people.

I'll admit though...the females do get all the brains hehe

I thought there was some legislation passed years ago about what the tabloids called 'devil dogs'?

I think its to do with the fact the staffies I know the males are "encouraged" to be fighty, the females to breed. type of owner has a lot to do with it. I spend lots of time with second hand car dealer types and in breakers/scrap metal yards.

My opinion of staffies is very possibly a bit biased.

I'm a dog owner- 1 bearded collie and 1 english mastiff.

Why do we no longer have dog lincences? ALL dogs (apart from minature varieties maybe) have the ability to kill and it is totally up to the owner.

one of the few things i think license are a good idea for.
