It depends on the race. Some are more open than others in terms of what is allowed to race, though yacht racing uses a handicap system which allows very different craft to compete against each other. Something like that would have quite a heavy handicap due to its high speed, but there is no reason why it can't race.

Does really do 'Corners' - it would be like taking a dragster to a race track if you know what I mean.
Not always perfect either

How it crashed
There was an 4 page article in Yachting World I think a few months ago on the 'thing'
White knuckle ride would be an understatement !
It could take its time doing the sharper corners, but the speed would make up for it no?

(im new to boating and having only ever seen powerboat racing and thats it not sure how the 60 ft yachts race, so take it easy on me)
It's an awesome machine. You have to hand it to the likes of SailRocket and Yellow Pages Endeavour, but I just love the fact that Hydroptere is the fastest, sails on both tacks and in theory can go anywhere, and no doubt there's the facility to have a brew, or for that matter, a dump, on board. And the saildrive leg poking out the bottom is just great!
Well done Frenchies, well deserved.
