Did anyone else pick up the line when they guy was driving the Smart? He said something like
"Driving this reminds me of the Porsche" Was he referring to the handling or sound?

on the same topic, why are yorkshire blokes so proud of being tighter than a gnat's chuff?

the comment in the smart did make me chuckle though.

Now, I havent seen rest of the this thread but possibily in the smart car guys defence, I did used to own one untill recently as a promotional tool and when the exhaust bracket snaps (as it does frequently) it sounds just like an early 911 i.e. 911 2.4 s or similar for the first week I kept looking round for a 911 rs or rsr only then to realise it was me great fun though !!! 680cc turbo with six speed paddle shift and about 400kg's weight

good point purple throbber, I hate tight people almost as much as people driving with foglamps on in the daytime, but thats another story..

The Smart is rear engine, rear-wheel drive like a 911, has a twin-spark flat triple as opposed to the twin-spark flat six in a 911, and understeers like crazy with little weight over thin tyres - like you can in a 911.

So I can see the parallels.....

My old man's got a lawnmower with a mid mounted engine, although I doubt the Maranello boy's would be too happy with a comparison to their finest.
