Austec - remap v8S
Discussion
Done it on my V6
Gained about 40 lb/ft of torque. However its more about drivability, removing flat spots and dips in the torque and power curves.
The factory map is created for many different reasons, economy, emissions, power etc so its always a compromise. the end result is a middle ground with fair power and some green credentials. After the re-map all the economy issues wont be a problem and the fuelling can be stronger in some places.
Also the factory map is not specific to your car, it was just taken off the shelf, whereas one that is created by hand while running on a set of rollers will always be better for your specific engine.
Afterwards, she will pull like a train from 2000 to 6000 without any let up in power.
Dont expect it to shave 2 seconds off your 0-60 but it will feel alot nicer to drive.
Even after 5 years since Austek did mine, Richard at Dulford Automotive says it feels really good & strong, one of the best S he has driven for a while.

My V8S had a rolling road session at Austec and it feels wonderfully smooth all the way through the rev range but it was done before i purchased the car and therefore cannot comment on the driving difference but looking at the power charts it certainly seemed to make a difference.
V8Smith the previous owner who had it done may be able to comment if he still looks at this forum.

My V8S was done twice and both times with big improvements
the first was a simple remap and power rose by about 40bhp to around 240 bhp and about the same increase in torque to about 260
then when the cam went ihad a lot of work done, polished heads, larger potted inlet manifolds, larger trumpets etc and the figure rose again to 263bhp and 285lbft so in my opinion it's well worth doing.
As has been said it just feels more driveable day to day with power available anytime in any gear

Now that's going some on a 4 litre...the first was a simple remap and power rose by about 40bhp to around 240 bhp and about the same increase in torque to about 260
