There seems to be a body of opinion that rates these two presenters as hopeless and annoying.

I know I do.

James Allen in particular is quite rubbish. The constant use of the word "mesmorising" drove me to distraction last season together with his inane ramblings.

So lets tell ITV that we want a new team.

I nominate...

ME ! And VBH, and Amanda Stretton.

Studio team - Clive James (GP fan and former narrator of the official FIA videos) along with a different star of the past for each race - Sir Stirling, JYS, John Surtees, Jody Schekter, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, Prost, Mansell list goes on.......

Commentary team - Keith Huewen & Julian Ryder.

Pit lane on the spot totty in ITV race suit - Dannii Minogue, well she knows about GP racers and JV won't be around and who wouldn't want to talk to her

Give that man the job. Ted - time to set up PH TV productions and make the F1 prog for ITV using fourwheeldrifts format above.

Getting Danii in is an inspired idea !

I'll make the tea.

As a comparison, I quite like Beavis and Butthead and I find it an insult to them to be mentioned in the same sentence as.(fullstop) Allen and Rosenthal.

Who's the guy that does the Eurosport commentary for GT's - Ben Edwards ? - always thought he was pretty good.

He also works on the British Touring Cars now which is covered by Motors TV (live) and ITV (shown 2 weeks after the race happened).

He'd probably get bored, John Watson and Allard Kalf were good when Eurosport did it, Watson was a bit like James Hunt and Kalf a racer himself was more level headed.

I caught what I think was a German broadcast of a GP a few years ago. There was a live studio audience with an anchorman and a motor racing person hosting the show (Niki Lauda). It seemed to work quite well.

Like the idea of VBH.....but then I like the idea of VBH full stop!

Brian Jones?

Tiff?

Tim Harvey?

IMHO, the best anchorman would have to be Steve Rider.

He's a bit over-exposed (steady, ladies) but John Inverdale seems to be very competent and easy in just about any sport - I think he'd make a great anchorman for the show. I find Brundle rather lacklustre and think that Allan McNish would be a very good replacement, but maybe he hasn't hung up his driving booties yet.

For a bit of very competent race totty in the pit lane you can't beat Diana Binks.

But please get rid of James Allen

I can see it now.....Irvine interviewing Ross Brawn in the pits.

Anchorman - "Over to Eddie who's got Ross Brawn with him"

Eddie "So...tell me Ross what's the strategy......oh feck it's the cops" - runs over to goped and he's off down the pitlane followed by 3 cops on gopeds.

Bernie used John Watson and Ben Edwards on his digital multi-screen bonanza...and for Bernie only the best will do

They were a superb team and brought out the best in eachother. John Watson had lost his old tendency to slight waspishness - always a danger with ex-drivers, and was completely unbiased.

Although it's only my personal opinion, and I expect to be shot to bits for it, I thought the Bundle Twins let their bias show through too much last season.

Rosenthal is only the presenter, and does an adequate job IMHO, but the least said about James Allen and the pit-person the better
