Hello PHoteaders,

Seeking some advice here, my girlfriend has recently taken up photography and has bought a nice 450d DSLR.
Her birthday is coming up soon and thought this might be a cool little gadget to accompany her new camera.
Has anybody any idea if this would be compatible with the Canon 450d as I am unsure if the camera is "Pictbridge" enabled confused

Any advice is much appreciated!

Regards,

Adam

'2"x3" slice of sticky-back photo paper in under 60 seconds.'

Zowee!

Nice gadget it may be but I fear the running costs will be high and the benefit of having prints on the hoof is questionable, even it does mean you can, er, 'juice up', whatever that is.

For the same price there must be a more useful extra you can buy for her camera...?

Almost anything I would have thought.

How about some filters, or a tripod, or a camera bag, or a lens, or photoshop?

(I'm really good at spending other people's money)

£10.99 for 70 prints on Play.com

Not bad for the ability to dish out instant humiliation to your mates.

I'd suggest a tripod (plenty available for £60-70 which do the job perfectly) or a lens like the Canon 50mm f1.8 which is the same sort of money and very popular for good reason. Both far more useful for someone getting into photography I'd have thought, depending on what sort of photos she wants to take of course.

Or alternatively, a day photography course perhaps?

Thanks for the responses guys, she is already in the middle of a City and Guilds Higher Diploma course and her portfolio this term is on Autumnal Landscapes. Would the 50mm lens prove useful for this? Then again a tripod could be the way to go. Will get back to the drawing board!

She would have a better idea of what she needs next than you. You just lose the element of surprise. Talking of elements, what about getting her Photoshop Elements?

The 50mm is a must have in my eyes but it's most useful as a portrait lens but it is sharp so I am sure she could use it for landscapes but as it is fixed focus she will be limited.

Filters would be the way forward if she is looking for something to help her with landscapes then, and a tripod.

Jessops gift card (let her decide)

Jessops also offer photographic courses, see in your local store.

failing that then filters. look for a cokin p series filter holder CLICK will need the appropriate adaptor). and a few filters. loads of different ones, especially good for landscape. All explained HERE
