I've got a 1 bed flat where the bathroom is in the eaves and can't take a shower, so I'm converting a largeish cupboard (1m by 1.5) next to the bedroom into a shower room. Currently it's got a door next to the bedroom door but I could knock through to give it a door in the bedroom. Realistically, how much extra appeal is this likely to give it, other than the estate agent being able to list it as being en-suite as there's obviously more oct in this option???

Have you really not got the head height for a shower? If you've got the height for a bedroom then I would argue that you have the height for a shower. Making a whole bunch of assumptions, if you put the shower head on the wall that is supporting the ridge, and use a really thin shower tray combined with a fancy custom made shower surround, if should fit... (would show you a picture if I had one)

That said, if you're looking to sell soon, the custom made surround might be above your budget?

Is the 'cupboard' on an outside wall? You'll need some way of extracting the damp air, and I certainly wouldn't want it to be straight into the bedroom (which is presumably where clothes are kept too)

I dont see ensuite as an issue in a 1 bed. Fair enough when there are multiple bedrooms and you dont want to wander around etc.

I've seen a couple of shower in a cupboard things and without exception the bedrooms had serious damp issues. If you cant do it properly, dont do it at all.

Exactly! I don't see the point for a 1 bed place

An ensuite in a one bed flat can be annoying assuming you mean full bathroom, as when you have a visitor round who wants the toilet they have to go through the bed room, so think about how mum, dad, the repairman etc do you want to have a design where they pass through a bedroom to the toilet?

If you convert a cupboard into a shower I would recommend keeping it's own door. However, where will you get changed and dry off? In the shower? In the hallway?

It does appear that way from her posting history

Just to balance things out she is also constantly posting on home improvement sites asking whether she should buy an MX5 and whether a 335D (mapped) really is the fastest car ever built.
