That rot has to be related in some way to the trangular plate that braces the two tubes, I think when I do mine I would be tempted to use thicker steel for the plate but maybe dish it a bit to aid the water out of the drain hole.
What a shame TVR didnt design it so the plate was welded to the tubes along the top instead of halfway down, I havent looked but I take it, it would foul the body at present.

That's quite worrying, mine looks great but as this proves you really don't know whats going on between the body and chassis.
Will have to have a partial lift sometime to have a look.

Chris, where is that first photo taken from?

wiz: take off the bit of the front wheel arch that is screwed to the body and you can get your hand in on top of the tube and feel how bad it is, if you can put your fingers through the top of the tube you need to fix it.

Might be something to have a go at over the winter. Looked at removing the trim last year but think all the fixings are badly rusted up.

Will build up the courage to have a look, hope the outriggers are sound.

Careful now! Better to poke around with a bent wire or something similar, if you get your finger jammed in a rusty outrigger its going to hurt.

mannik i do not know what the primer is or the paint
but they do loads of chassis refurbs and do them with this paint
unless you have a different colour
