Has anyone else tried this yet?

I was looking forward to a new campaign... its dire.

Truly dire. The level layout isnt great, it's short, the special infected seem to spawn together at the same time, item spawn points seem to have been randomly scattered, it's short. Real short.

I can now see why this one was cut from the original game.

Thank god I dont have an Xbox 360, at least I didnt have to pay for it. 30 minutes to clear and I dont plan to play it again... frown

If you're good then No Mercy can be done in 30 mins.

How much is it on 360?..

IIRC 500 odd points. However much that is in real money.

It's probably half the length of No Mercy? That was a saunter and explore playthrough - getting lost, exploring all the buildings / alleys etc.

560 points, and it was worth it just for the laugh my mates and I had online last night alone, let alone the number of times we will play it again.

It's a lot easier to get everybody together for a quick 30min campaign over an hour long one that we have all played a hundred times already.

Short and quick it may be, but we had a good time, well worth 560 points IMO(bearing in mind most stuff is 800 points as well).

I think it's one of the better levels personally, and thoroughly enjoyed playing it last night.

Few things I don't like - there seems to be a lot of glitches, objects like vehicles not being solid and you can walk through them, same with some of the environmental textures, couple of times I looked through a door and got nothing but sky... and yeah there does seem to be a lot of spawning all at once with special infected.

Still, I like it. The level layout is different, and a bit more vast and open feeling which aside of dead air I think the game has always lacked a bit.

Oh, and if you're good, you can get through the whole game, in 45 minutes, with 2 of you, on hard setting. Extreme we can't manage, the computer characters are just too rubbish to be of any use so we find we do great by taking our time and being methodical, and as soon as a tank comes along it's curtains. with 4 human players with the amount of time put into the game as me and the mate I play with, we'd breeze it I reckon.

I think it was rushed out a bit to try and drum up interest and get people playing again with LFD2 coming in a month or so, but all in all I don't feel *too* ripped off so all is well. Bit rubbish that it's free for PC gamers though, apparently they wanted the xbox one to be free but MS said no - no idea how much truth is in that.

Really looking forward to the second one though, I wish they'd done more to develop the 1st as essentially they could have just kept releasing new story progression through new chapters. The new one does seem to have an impressive array of weapons and stuff, and rumour has it some new special infected etc too. Given I've played this one pretty much from the date it was released until now and only ever play story mode really, the replayability it's offered is amazing, better than GOW2 even, which is quite some achievement. Between LFD2 and modern warfare 2, and forza 3, I can't see me leaving the house much over winter hehe

I got that, seems to be a lag thing. It started happening, so I switched the PC off (I play on Xbox, but PC was on at the same time) and tried again, hey presto, all objects solid again smile

Went online, got hooked in with some Yanks and everything became glitchy again. Rather annoying as instead of firing the Howitzer(?), the survivor team just run straight through the closed gate frown

Could well be, not sure if it's something L4D specific, but my mate normally sets up the games and invites me in. I never, ever get lag and my connection is as quick and slick as one could hope for, perfect for gaming. His is normally fine and we never lag, but since the last update he's been having a few problems with mid-game drop outs (it'll just keep saying retrying server connection or something similar before dropping out).

I'll host tonight and see what the difference is, only seems to have happened either since the last update, or on the crash course DLC. Bizarre.

One of my mates hosted with his 16mb Sky connection and we got the issues with walking through objects etc, switched to me hosting with my Virgin 20mb and all went solid again.

Properly crap though, as online with randoms, we just couldn't get a game where objects were solid. A proper pain in the arse when you are playing as the infected as you can't climb on containers because you just fall through the top of them frown
