OK so when I was a young man I used to play with models and one game I played was Blood Bowl which is basically Warhammer American Football with lots of killing.

Of course as with all things someone makes a computer game out of it!

Picked it up last week and it is a good laugh. The best bit being you can take part in global competitions which have an RPG element as your players gain new skills and stats as the more experience they get.

You are limited a 8 races atm Chaos, Humans, Orcs, Lizardmen, Wood Elves, Skaven. Dwarves and Goblins with most of the Star Players making an appearance as well as chain saws, death rollers and pogo sticks.

It is all very customiserable from your players down to which of the optional rules you want to use. There is a classic turn based mode as well as a real time one and with you able to host your own leagues online with your own rule sets it should keep you interested for a while.

It is retailing for £25 which is a bit much for the game really but compared to some £40 or £50 console titles I think it has a massive amount of replay value and has lots of scope for added rule sets, new teams and of course lots of blood.

Haha I owned this as a kid as well... I remember having a big transparent plastic ruler to measure long passes.

Happy days
