I've been looking at old Mercs and there values seem to be very high compared with the UK,5000-6000euro for a diesel 190 or W124 is this normal or is the dealers web site over pricing theses cars?

Thank the Dutch Government.

Cars when new in the Netherlands have a "luxury tax" called BPM applied to them. This is 42% I think of the price of the car including BTW/VAT.

BPM depreciates over the years but second hand cars will normally always be more expensive here.
