OK, I have booked October 23rd off from work so I can spend all day playing Forza 3, the wife even only muttered the word 'sad' under her breath which i took as a positive sign smile

The thing is whats the best way to get this game as early as poss? Do i turn up at my local 'game' store and buy on the day at 9:00am? Pre order and collect it from local store?
Or pre order for delivery from Game/ play etc, but if I do that I would have to wait for the post which doesnt deliver to around mid day where I live?
Or is it possible to pre order and collect the night before??
What is the consensus in getting your hands on the game as early as poss??

best company i have ever dealt with in this regard (getting games early) is www.shopto.net

Almost every time you get it 1 day before release. they send it one day early incase of the postal mishaps! They even garantee if you dont get it on release they give you credit against your next order.

Only time they havent delivered is when royal mail lost the parcel, even then they sent out another no questions asked.

They are also consistently the cheapest or with a few £ of the cheapest... cant reccomend them enough!

I really rate them but some peeps on here have recently mentioned people experiencing card fraud as a result of using them. I've used them for the last 12 / 18 months without issue (touch wood) and they always deliver promptly (next day for things that are in stock).

Not preordered anything from them but a good friend has and as S3_Graham says, gets it the day before release.

I use shopto and haven't had any issues with them, going to swap to paypal through them though just in case. But the games almost always arrive the day before, sometimes two or three days before release.

Think I'll stop proliferating this fraud rumour as I haven't had any issues and it could be doing more harm than good.

As you say, PayPal is probably belt and braces to mitigate any issues.

Real men turn up at the 24hour supermarket just as the clock strikes 00:00.

I've done this a few times, and you'd be amazed at how many people turn up, the busiest one was for Grand Theft Auto 4, that was queued all the way up the fruit and veg aisle!

This is what I plan to do for both Forza 3 & Modern Warfare 2.

satans - you can pre-order from gamestation/game for free and pick it up *unless they're doing a midnight launch*

other alternative is going to an asda/tesco and picking it up from there but there's no pre-order facility as far as i'm aware though i've had staff save stuff for me in the past
