This video shows what is, I pressume, a projection on Kimberley's father's house as a treat for her birthday (I'm guessing here!) but it will blow you away! Make sure your sound is on. By the way, how long would this have taken to put together?

Got to say...i dint get it. Very clever I'm sure but I'd rather have some fireworks than a slide show on the side of the house.

To project on to a "screen" that size the PJ would have to be a way back, meaning the distribution of light over the surface isn't ideal and reflected light will not be uniform and will be very very low. You can only combat this with more light. One projector would have to put out something like 10,000 lumens to cover that area. Since those are rare and expensive, it is more likely that to keep costs down (and profit up) they have 12-15 (?? a guess really - i don't know) projectors putting out say 1,000 lumens each projecting the same video on top of each other. This is is what gives the bright reflection.

It would probably take a few hours to line a pattern from each projector up so that you could be sure each PJ's image fell in the right place. If it wasn't right, it'd look blurry and crap.

Same video is then fed to each PJ, meaning video sync at all times.

Simples!

  • I have never done this so it could be slightly different, more difficult, more complex etc but it's how I would do it if asked.

Since XL supplied the kit, it was probably a couple of these. I would guess that they would be doubled up (stacked) and placed on a raised tower behind the crowd.

Wow 18000 Lumens. I was thinking of a matrix of 2000 Lumens units, but I guess you could do it with these little things! wink
