Honda confirm that HSC is basis for next NSX

Finally - and it comes as no surprise - Honda have confirmed that their Honda HSC Concept car (first shown in Tokyo) is to form the basis of the next generation NSX. It's being displayed in Detroit badged up as the Acura HSC.

Honda's President said that Honda was committed to achieving industry best performance for the new vehicle - and that it would appear "within a few years."

The High-Performance Sports Concept features a lightweight 3.5-litre V-6 engine located midships. Gear shifting is accomplished through a unique dial shifter located on the centre console or an F-1 style paddle shifter located on the steering wheel.

The HSC features a 4-wheel double wishbone suspension with six-piston caliper Brembo disc brakes on each wheel. Five-spoke forged aluminum alloy racing wheels are shod with 245/35ZR19 tires in front and 295/30ZR20 tyres at the rear.

The HSC body is composed of carbon fibre panels over an all-aluminum unit body frame.

A clear glass engine cover, located behind the cockpit, shows off the engine. The lower body boasts a low waistline, rectangular air intakes on both sides and scissor-style doors.

Dual exhaust tips are integrated into the bumper and a rearview camera, located next to the taillights, transmits the view behind the car to the driver via the navigation system tilt-up screen when the car shifts into reverse.

Inside, the concept features a race inspired cockpit with black nubuck leather trim and anodized aluminium accents on the door panels, center console, steering wheel and gauge housings. Dual gauge clusters feature a tacho on the left and an analogue/digital speedometer on the right.

Now, we must wait...

No, no, I mean it will probably still be working perfectly when we're all in our boxes, unlike the resin rocket which is dissowned by the manufactuer the day it gets into the dealers hands, and dissowned by the dealer the day it gets into the poor sad bas...d that buys it hands !

rear lights (and front lights for that matter) will certainly change. They'll round off those rear corners.... the shape is what was important.. the nose will also be smoothed a bit.

Must admit - it's on the shortlist to replace the S2000 when the time comes. Honda do tend to get the engineering right - lets just hope that it comes with some standard equipment (a clock would be nice in the S2000 ) and they get the price right. Oh, and the dealers start to give a sh1t .

I'm sure that the paddle gear shift will have an auto option, so it would even be suitable for the TVR torqueheads mentioned above who don't like to change gear :getscoat:

Aside from the fact that this car looks like the each section was farmed out to a different design team, as nothing really flows front to back, I think everyone is missing one ridiculous detail.

You include a glass rear deck lid to show off a Ferrari engine. You do not include a glass rear deck lid to show off a Honda 6 cylendar engine.

Whats the difference between a Honda motor and a Ferrari one?

Ferrari has more cylinders so in that case looks better

Honda makes as much if not more hp per litre

Honda is more reliable and cheaper to run

Honda engines win prizes all the time. As do Beemers. They are both hipo and easy in everyday traffic. Marranello cuties are not . . .
