Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel in or near to Le Mans. We are probably going to the testing weekend of 24/25th April to do a reccy prior to the main event. Needs to be TVR friendly.

Thanks

Hotel Kyriad is not bad. Its in a good location in the town. If you do a search for Le Mans hotels, it always appears. Or try here:

I reckon you need to book up before April, in fact I would be surprised if there are any rooms in Hotels near the circuit available now? Anywa y whats wrong with camping? You don't miss any of the action then.

However, you wont get in any hotel in Le Mans for the main event. Page & Moy still have availability for the Marmotte in Alencon, 40 mins on the motorway north of the town. Ive stayed here and its far better than the F1 chain of hotels (which I have also stayed at in the town). At least it has beds rather than bunks and private facilities! Most F1s share shower/toilets in corridors.

For the main event, the lady will be camping it up with the rest of us.

Should be no problems finding a room for the test day. If you search on the Accor website it checks all their branches in Le Mans (ie. F1 (x2), Novotel, Mercure, Ibis (x2)).

'A Friend' got a free night at the Novotel for a weekend stay by arriving at five past midnight on the Friday night, the computer recorded a Saturday morning arrival .

Although I'd like to be proved wrong I would be very surprised if you find anything now within 50 miles that has not been snapped up by an agent who will treble the normal rate and require a minimum 5 night stay.
For instance, I called in person in November to Hotel Green7 (near and fairly new) whose normal rate is €45 and who said get they were taking bookings just before Xmas. When I called to book they had been taken over by a german travel agent who wanted €115 a night for a minimum 7 night stay!
Similar story in lots of other places.

If you don't mind a 30 minute meander up the N138 Tours Holiday Inn is very cheap and faily easy to find.

We put the wifes and kids up there last year for race weekend and paid €55/nt for the rooms.
