Was overtaken by a new Aston yesterday ( Vantage I think ) anyway, it was a DC so I pulled out behind it and I was struck by a sight I never thought I'd live to see...

..something uglier than buckingfuttugly!!

What the F"£K were they thinking when they stuck the wing mirrors on that car?? Did they forget all about them until they rolled up to get the car type approved, and then go out an steal them from the van they used to deliver the car???

My eyes hurt now even just thinking about them!!

So... which other manufacturers have made a beautiful car ugly by sticking a single crap element on it?

Flame suit on.

The wing mirrors on the Ferrari 288 GTO. Very unflattering on such a pretty car.

I can't look at the front of a diablo without the indicators screaming "british leyland parts bin". It utterly, utterly ruins the car for me.

Sorry.

I think I'd agree!!

On a wing mirror-related note, there is something very cool about the Gallardo's wing mirrors... thumbup

Can I add the mirror from the Testarossa as well, you know the single one that was half way up the A pillar?

Not in the same league at all, but the dashboard in the S1 Focus is enough to ensure I never owned one, despite liking the exterior and loving the handling.

It's strange, in that it's one of the few that actually looks worse on the higher spec models, with the "wood-you-believe-it" and extra buttons all over the place.

Morris Marina door handles on a Lotus Esprit were a terrible faux pas.

But now that Marinas are a distant memory, they don't look so awful these days.

The Wolfrace slots have dated badly and don't look half as nice as the Speedline alloys on the S2 or the BBS alloys on the S3.

I've never understood why anyone gets their knickers in a twist over that one.

But then current PH wisdom seems to be "Sod the performance, has it got a nice interior.....?"

Strangely I always liked the marina handles on the Esprit, they look good in a flakey Italian exotica way!

There isn't anything I'd change about the S1 Esprit's looks, actually. It's such a pretty car - my favoutite Italian wedge.
Polished Wolfrace suit it perfectly too imho.

The ariel on that Noble.

Same with the ariel on the new Focus RS actually. There's just no need for it.

Upside down Cav GSI lights on the back of the Grif.

Rear lights on the Masser 4200 - when I see the 3200 it makes me sad inside to see how they changed it (apparently for the American market? - gits)

Chrome wing mirrors on the Disco - wrong, so wrong.

Nissan Murano - the chrome exhaust trims fitted over the pipes, but they are too big and you can see the gap between the pipes and the trims - this is from the factory. Wrong again.

Strange one this - as I do LOVE this car, but the exhausts on the GTR are too big.

I know, I need to get out more.

The exhausts on the GTR aren't really that big. Look closer and you can see the inner bore is much smaller.

Ford interior switches being used on DB7's is another

apparently the door pull in the DB7 was the same as my eunos roadsters??

I really don't see what'd wrong with the V8 Vantage mirrors:

Looks fine to me!

Anyway my contribution is the Lotus Excel. Quite a good looking car from the front:

But the rear end well and truly ruins the whole thing

(that is quite a big 'element' though)
