Tivvers around Salisbury...

OK - I live in a modern day Brigadoon, miles from any main roads to anywhere else.

But are there any other owners around here or will I once again be regarded by the locals as a "black sheep"?

I'm about 20 miles away. From the monthly mag, there seems to be a fairly active TVRCC in Wiltshire but I've yet to make a monthly meeting.

I used to make it to the Surrey TVRCC meets regularly five years ago...

... and that was when I was driving a Volvo!

(...and may I just say thankyou to all those lovely TVRCCers and PHers who were nice enough not to rip the p*ss at the time.)

I think a little rumble round Salisbury might be in order soon after collection...

Hants TVRCC meet east of Winchester at the Milburys in Beauworth, 2nd Sunday of the month.
Quite an active following!

Dark Matter on here has a Griff 500 - lives in Wellow (off the A36).

We've got a ghost tour of Brooklands Motor Museum coming up on Halloween (Saturday 31st of October), should be a laugh. All regions welcome but must let me know by the 12th of October.

...I still get the emailed meeting reminders each month but thought the RX (the current "steed")might be even less appropriate than the old Volvo, I'll be racking up some miles when I take possession though so will probably get out there at some point!

...or the VXR if the Tivs live up to reputation, break down, and we all need to be picked up and given a lift into town?



The guys at work are already muttering something about a sweepstake as to how long it'll be before "mine" breaks down. (I don't even have it yet but I'm already - 13 days to go why did I say I'd pick it up 1st October?)

You'll be fine - if you've bought a good one with a full service history to factory spec - basically serviced every 6K miles or every year, whichever is sooner.

I've had 7, or is it 8 now in 25 years and only one has left me needing roadside assistance for mechanical or electrical reasons. And that was only down to some shoddy workmanship, not a failure as such. No exact figure on total trouble free mileage, but several of my TVR's have had 60k on the clock when sold so I'd guess 100-200K miles at least overall.

Funny you spotted the VXR8 too - needed a saloon and it was the closest thing to a TVR saloon I could find!

I was actually considering a Monaro up until recently - but then I made the mistake of having a demo of a "VXR600" and suddenly the standard ones didn't seem as appealing.

The VXR8 is a very different beast. Mine is an LS3 with a few minor mods meaning power is ~450bhp. On the performance box its faster than the griff but slower than the sag on the same (private) road.

I live just off the A36 near Landford, about 20mins from Salisbury. Car will be back on road in few days, just fitting SC Power Supercharger kit (400+bhp) to my blue Griff SC500, easy to spot, has full aero kit as i compete in TVR Speed Championship. Am competing at Castle Coombe on Oct 17th if anyone in area fancies a rumble from local area to Coombe?

The sperm for toys program was abandoned. Wifey "retired" and I have just bought a '94 4.0 HC which I should be collecting on the 1st October... :-D
