just looking around bored wilst having a night cap. Unless im wrong i can have 2 people coverd on any car with a 500 cover on parts/labour for just £200 a year. does anyone use this on there tvr and does anyone know the rules if i was to brake down in my works van (family owned). i ask this a the other week the turbo went on the M25 and it was quite costly. This one claim would have payed for the membership.

With the AA it's the member that's covered not the car, so fo rexample I have coverage primarily for my Griff 500 but once out with my son when he broke down in his Metro we simply called the AA on my membership, very simple.

My AA policy needs the registration of the cars you want covered.

Yeah, you can nominate a car and it's covered for any driver or you can be a driver and be covered for any car.

I'm the same as Dave500, I have a warranty with the AA for £500 per claim but my Tuscan is the covered car. Normal breakdown cover is for me so any car I am in. Used the warranty a couple of times, does help with the bigger bills.

As said it's the driver that's covered not the car so if im in the works van or tiv they will still come out to me but only mobile not home start.
IIRC i pay £100 per year

Not sure if you're talking about breakdown recovery or a third party warranty, I'd expect them to be completely separate things.

I've used them for 20 years and have no complaints at all. They've relayed me home for a recurring fault albeit local several times. It's nice to know they are there if I need them.

Yes, wife and I both covered, any vehicle. Cerb blew a radiator hose last week, arrived within 20 mins of call, new hose fitted, and back on my way all in under an hour.

I was thinking the 2 person cover mainly due to the fact if i enter the TVR world (will find out this saturday). My dad will be trying everything to borrow the tiv as i know he loves them and when I first said about a tiv he was very happy, say how it was his kind of car. Which is fair enough as over the years i have borrowed his cars.

the £500 warrenty sounds like just peace of mind.

There are 2 parts at discussion here, the AA will do the breakdown based on driver so if I am in another car and breakdown I can call them out. However the add on warranty repair (I think I pay £90 on top of the recovery part for £500 per claim cover) is car specific, I can't break down in my wifes car and claim on the warranty for the repair work, only for calling them out to attend. You might however be able to buy more warranty cover for each car at I assume additional lots of £90 (or whatever the price is).

Yes TC is spot on, the AA breakdown is nominated driver, any car and the warranty is car specific (think it needs to be less than 10 years when you first register). Broke down in the Volvo in Cornwall last year, called them out and relayed the car home. However, they would not pay for the repairs under the warranty. And who said Volvo's are more reliable than TVR's! Been a member of the AA since 1985 and always found the AA to be very helpful and quick to respond.

I have the AA warranty and it costs £65 per year. It covers the car up to £500 per calim with a £50 excess. It doesnt cover all problems. I beleive the policy says the car has to be undrivable which can cover a whole lot of issues, and you have to call the AA callout man and he decides that he can or cannot fix it there and then. You are covered up to £500 and I think you have to get a quote from the garage the car is taken to.

I havent used it (yet ) but it seems a good insurance for £65 per year.

ok, on the breakdown repair cover (the £500 warrenty thingy-me-bob) it states the car must have a full service history from new, now my car has full history but no book with stamps, does this suffice? how thorough are they?

Cheers
Al

P.S. sorry for the thread Hijack

£192 for myself, Mrs WR, two sons, full Roadside, Relay and homestart.

Good value at less than £4pw.

Can't praise them enough, when I've needed them, (last time last month)......
