On my cameras (Nikon) I have Interval timer. Bung it on a tripod, set how often and how many (up to 999) and away you go.

Hi - is 999 the limit? I was thinking - if poss - to leave hands free for 3 months, with maybe 1 pic every 5 mins. is 288 each dayend result: http://www.stevecarter.com/timelapse.htm

288 x 90 = 25920 frames = 17.5 minute video @ 25fps. And at 8Mb per image, about 2 Tb of data.
And if it's outside half of it will be dark. Is that what you had in mind?

17 mins yup that sounds about right. I can assemble in Adobe & get rid of nighttime. Wouldnt need to be shot at full res as end result is a video. And if it's outside half of it will be dark. Is that what you had in mind?

I've used various nikons with hooked up to a laptop running Nikons own camera control pro 2 software - it has a time lapse mode. On the odd occasion, ive plugged everything into the mains, hooked laptop up to internet, gone home, and using screen sharing, monitored it all from home! Only limit is the amount of HD space I've got!
I dont shoot full res, but i usually pick a size a little larger than HD, so in post, i can slightly zoom in or out of the footage, or pan across it. Done subtley, it can look like youve used a motion controlled time lapse rig.
