exige s2 tyre pressures for track use????
Discussion
start off at factory cold pressures - say 24/26psi
go and do 3-4 laps and come in, they will be at like 30psi plus
drop them down to 24/26 HOT pressures
thats what Ive always done
unless you have a pyrometer and are going to take readings across the width of the tyre, and mess around, there is no real accurate, fixed way of doing it and it may vary between driver on their preferences and style

thanks bogie, got a walshy day booked so will give it try then! Cheers
doubt you will get them hot enough on a Walshy day to be honest, thats more short exercises with a break in between...you need a few laps of a circuit, loading it up in the corners, to get heat into the tyresin the afternoon, you will be doing 3 laps of his mini circuit on the airfield and you should be able to experiment then, they will get a bit warmer....but nothing like say doing 3 laps of a real race circuit
Walshy will advise you

Favourite is Toyo 888's which are virtually indestinguishable from A048's but are more readily available and cheaper. I use them on mine all year round. If you want a proper road tyre then Eagle F1's are pretty popular on Exiges and will be better in the wet and might held reduce aquaplaning as standing water is what really kills the 888/48's

cool, thanks for the info, can any one recommend a tyre that will do for both? I heard the OA48's are leathal in the wet!!
they dont exist, there is no perfect all round tyre, otherwise there would be no need for specialist tyres for track, wet, winter, snow etc.The BEST performance tyre that sticks nearly as a good as A048 AND clears water like a regular tyre, is what used to be standard fitment on the Exige S1 - the Yokohama A039
I used to run these as my all round tyre, and just keep A048 on 2nd set of wheels for trackdays
A039s are a low volume tyre, and the most probably the most expensive off the shelf option - about £850 a set of 4 and they last about as long as A048s - so 6K miles ish road use
/otherwise as per options recommended in previous post above (there is an entry in the wiki for tyres on www.seloc.org as per most common questions, these cars have been around over 10 years now, pretty much everything has been asked before
