Bad Boys 2 Trivia - what was that car?
Discussion
Happy New Year to all!
A question for you chaps and chapesses. In the movie Bad Boys 2, there's a car in one scene that i'm struggling to identify. It's the scene where they're driving to the captains house. It's a purple car with flared wheel arches. It's not in the movie for long, which doesn't help!
Anyone know what it was???
Cheers
Jud

Sorry, dont know, but I have to say that this really was a film of two halves. The first half, I am ashamed to say I thoroughly enjoyed. It was overtly violent sickeningly funny and very slick.
In The second half, they practically got rid of the BAD BOYS and replaced them with the usual he-man all-American heros, who then decided they needed to go to CUBA ans wipe out half the Cuban Army, before tastefully seeking refuge at Guantanomo Bay....utter bollocks.
Ah Jerry Bruckheimer, dont you just love him....

A fair review methinks..
The scene with the Hummer destroying a shanty town as it sped down a hill was almost impossible to believe. The kind of symbolism which is so hopelessly and totally out of touch that it makes you wonder just what they were thinking...
But then, of course, they were'nt thinking were they
Obviously a street rod based on a late 1930s/early 1940s Yank but can't tell what make from these pics.
No doubt someone from the National Street Rod Association (either US or UK) will know, so either try doing a search for their site and asking there or try and find a hot rod forum.

Can you get a picture of it?
Now if you were asking what the Porsche was in the first one
what kind of Porsche was it then!?!
Oh god
The car is a 964 3.6 Turbo, with the X88 performance pack, not a Turbo S. Although the Yanks insist on calling it a Turbo S. If you look closely you'll notice the car changes in the film. At the beginning it has red (or black can’t remember which way round) brakes and crested headrests. This car was very, very, special, not least for the 20k sound system... Later when the film ran out of money they borrowed the directors’ car that was a normal 3.6 Turbo, no crested head rests and brakes a different colour. Neither car was the very, very cool 3.3 Turbo S.
The Bad Boys films seem to have a 'thing' about using two different cars (actually the directors cars) in their movies, in the first one it was the 964 3.6 Turbo, with the X88 performance pack which later turned into (director's car) the normal 3.6 Turbo with different headrests and calipers.
...and in Bad Boys II the car you see most often is the 575M Maranello, however, Michael Bay's (Director) 550 Maranello was used for some of the more daring stunt work.

Good investigative work Graham!
Took me a while of googling but I got there in the end
I found the info here where it said:
"Other cars in the film: Hummer H2, Cadillac CTS and Buick's Blackhawk prototype. Bad guys drive vintage cars: 1968 Pontiac Firebird, 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle and '70 Nova, 1971 Dodge Super Bee and 1971 Pontiac TransAm."
