....or is it just bling?

I'm looking to buy one and if I do I'd quite like to remove the rear spoiler from a look point of view but I don't want to upset the handling so I was wondering if anyone new if it was necessary or not?

Thanks

Not all E36s were fitted with the spoiler from the factory, so I'd say that it wasn't essential from a Audi TT style handling point of view.

Plenty of "naked" boots.

Standard spoiler does the square root of fk all in terms of downforce.

I had one on mine, then had it despoilered when it was resprayed. No difference to handling.

Have since fitted a rather large one - big difference in top speed and handling.

Most of the press cars didn't have spoilers either.

LOL

I had been wondering this too. And similarly wondering if the little, tiny rear lip spoiler that is missing from my E39 530i actually did anything, apart from look "sporty". I suspect it, too, does the square root of fk all.
