hi fellas, not sure whether to post this on csl forum or here but have a question about the wear pattern on a set of rear michelin cups. bought these tyres with about 2mm left above the indicators on a set of csl replica wheels (correct size + offset to originals i believe) and ran them for about 1200-1500 miles (50% motorway- 50% fast road fun in devon)

they were even to start with but seem to have worn more on the outer edge or does it look normal? not sure as first set of cups i've run. car is a standard e46 m3 coupe, std suspension. is this to be expected? would running slightly more camber improve things without causing probs to normal day to day driving? the day to day tyres on the car seem to be wearing evenly with no problems. got a set of new cups to put on as off to germany next week and after the eye watering bill for these just want to make sure i get the most out of them. car is mostly used with the csl/cups on for a few'ring trips each year

thanks

Firstly the wear is pretty even although obviously a bit too biased towards outer wear. I would expect from your description that if youy geo is set up well you will get road wear either even across the tyre or if not slightly too much wear on the inner tyre shoulder if you have a slight increased neg camber to help with the track/ring work.

If you had done track days the tyres would never have got that low before either the inner or outer shoulder wear out esp on standard suspension. So that tells me the vast majoirty is road miles so i would get your geo redone with around -1.5 camber

cheers shim

that is the wear pattern i do tend to get with the road tyres - pretty even to slightly more on the inside edge. car going in for a geo check next week so will see if they can set up with 1.5 neg on the rears. the fronts of the same wheel/tyre combo have been wearing fine with the same use - slightly more on the inside edge so will leave the front as they are
