'S' bonnet hinges (again)

When I opened the bonnet of my S4c yesterday thr hinge came away from the bonnet! The hinge seems ok but was just about joined to a rusty gunge! I guess that there is a flange glassed onto the bonnet that the hinge flange bolts onto? Is this a straight forward fix. How easy are the electrics to disconnect - is it worth fitting some sort of connector? Thanks guys. John.

Here's another picture of an S3 bonnet hinge:


The plate is just bolted through the plywood web, it isn't glassed in. There is a spreader plate on the other side of the plywood, same size and shape as the one you see in the pic but without the tube to take the adjuster.

There should already be connectors for the electrics but theres a risk they will disintegrate when you take them apart so you may need new ones anyway.

If so and you want the plates, I am fairly sure they're still lurking in the garage, you may not have to fit the full plates but I did for strength, its really not a hard job to do yourself.
