Discussion
Well I like the look of the front end - I really hope that it performs too.

Expect that to change before the 3rd race of the season. It'll probably not work or it'll be no different to a normal nosecone.
They might look good in the wind tunnel and on a computer screen but they never turn out to work. Anyone remember the double floor Ferrari F92 ?

why does "radical" in F1 simply mean something different to last year car..... i fail to see how this can be classed as "radical". its no more different to Tyrell adopting the high nose for the first time in the early 1990s. if it works everyone will have one by a week next tuesday. if it doesnt williams will be left standing.
I reckon its a bluff by Williams to force all the other F1 sheep to go spending vast amounts of cash and wind tunnel time checking to see whether it works. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a rather more standard car emerge for the season - Or maybe I'm getting a bit cynical about Formulaic 1
I'm not an aerodynamics nerd but I always thought the front end produces downforce and the rear end dissapates it, if it does it well it reduces the drag no matter how much downforce the car produces.
Anway news from Valencia :-
The new Williams-BMW FW26 hit the track at Valencia in Spain on Monday afternoon and the team's two drivers, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher, were positive about their first impressions of the radical-looking machine.
During the runs a loud rumbling noise could be heard coming from the pit garage next dooor to Williams, "Is that a new engine they're trying too" asked a media writer, "No, that's Ron Dennis laughing".
