Tuscan Differential

Put this in the general column as I assume the differential is common to all newer cars.
Any help very gratefully received...

Anyone know who makes the differential used in a 2002 Tuscan S?
Is it possible to get refurbed / 2nd hand ones, and where from etc.

I think the Pinion bearing has gone on mine, and the place I've sent it to is finding it
very hard to even get the diff casing off, and then replacing said bearing (IF it is the bearing alone) is looking v. expensive.

The differentials mentioned on their website are expensive for
the Tuscan Mk1 and a lot cheaper for the Tuscan Mk2.

Ah, well it may be the only way, we'll see.

www.gearboxman.co.uk can rebuild it with whatever internals you want. I've not used them personally but I've heard that quite a few people have.

They are both £500 at the moment on offer, at 3.71 with hydratrak for that money is a bargain I thought.

Yes, £499 + VAT, does look good, but it does say for Tuscan 2 or Sagaris. Mine is
obviosuly a Tuscan S Mk1 (with CR gear box). Sorry for my ignorance on these
things, but does that matter (I assume it does)?

Also, just had a thought depending on how things work out, would I be able to
sell (maybe part ex) my old diff to any of these places does anyone know?

The diffs are all the same mk1 or mk2 just a final ratio difference and hydratrak or not. The only reason they are saying tuscan 2 and sag is that was what they are fitted to as std. Give them a call.

I called them and they say the diffs are slightly different requiring various changes to the mountings. Which is a shame. As you say it is a good price for a good spec diff.
Getting mine rebuilt is looking the best bet now I think.
