2 days short of the warranty end I have discovered my Tuscan leaks and I am truely gutted. I can put up with all niggles but not the smell of a leaking TVR (the reason for selling my Griff)

Anyway according to my dealer if you park your Tuscan nose down on a gradient in windy rain it is likely to leak at the bottom of the door and needs a sealent mod by the kick plate - something to do with the thickness of the kickplate.

I wish the dealership could have warned me of this before it actually happened - the good news is I can still get it done under warrenty.

p.s. mines a Jan 2003 model

Hiya Jo

Sorry to hear you have a problem, I take it 'the dealer' is sorting it on the warrenty?

Hope to see you again soon

Yeah the same applies to the boot. If the angle of the hill you park on is steep enough (only a few degrees is required) the water builds up at the front of the boot/bottom of the rear screen and leaks into the boot

I had this on my Chimaera too. Tuscan does it too so I always park it level. (worse on Chim/Griff as the water in the footwell soaks the ECU etc in the passenger footwell)

can they do anything about the boot - is there any kind of mod?

not sure mine is the same issue, but the carpet on the drivers side is wet, in fact pretty much most of the carpet around the drivers seat, although at the edges and seals...

haven't had water sloshing around, but it has started to smell damp, so my question is how to get rid of that smell ?

Dried out the carpets as much as possible and will revisit that to make sure it isn't recurring/getting worse, but would appreciate any remedies?

Here’s the proceedure:

Hang carpets in shower using those trouser hangers with spring clips and leave until completely dry.

Get an old towel and use it sponge up as much water as possible from the carpet still in the car.

Go to Halfords and buy a sachet of Neutradol odour removing gel (£1.99)and a Moisture Mate (£3.99, usually found in the caravanning section so wear a disguise).

Hide the Neutradol sachet somewhere out of site e.g. stick it under the dashboard. This will quickly get rid of the damp smell but does have a “clean” smell of its own.

The Moisture Mate is a container with calcium chloride crystals which soak up water from the atmosphere. It can be hidden behind the passenger seat or put in the passenger footwell. It will stop you getting misted up windows all the time and help slowly dry out the car.

After a few days as the car starts to dry out you can probably remove the Neutradol sachet and the Moisture Mate should be enough to keep the damp smell away.

I'm interested to hear you say the leak is covered by warranty. I have had exactly the same problem and the car is about to go back to the dealer for the 4TH ATTEMPT to get it fixed! They tell me the warranty doesn't cover it and never did. I'd be intersted to hear where you bought the car.

I don't think it's that after all. I suspect it might be water getting into the roof locating pin tubes and dripping into the boot.

Furtunately my Tuscan lives a cosseted life so it's only a problem when I'm away from home in very bad weather. I find a folded newspaper on the boot floor soaks up any water that gets in.

As for the door/roof seal I had a small leak after taking the driver's side seal off to fit a handsfree car kit microphone lead. I think the water was seeping around the back of the seal. I have cured this by squirting a bead of silcon into the channel of the seal and reseating it. All OK now

Hi Stewartpe

It was my understanding that the 1st year warranty covered pretty much everything but wear and tear. I got my leak registered by my dealership Walldonway (who seem to be very good about this sort of thing) just 2 days before the warranty ended and the work is due to be carried out with a 12k service on Saturday.

On thing that interests me; is work done under warranty guarenteed or if my leak registered b4 warranty end turns out not to be related to the kickplates will it still be fixed?

Topic for a new thread methinks.

Good luck sorting out yours.

Joanna

at least the leak doesn't affect your electrics like it did mine.Water was somehow getting in and dripping on to the fuse box, thus making all the electrical appliances going crazy, wing mirrors going, alarm, heater permanently on etc etc....had to pull all the fuses out and let it dry out b4 putting them back in again.Next thing to sort out for the garage.By the way...anyone know of any RELIABLE dealers who can sort this out in the London or surrounding area?Last people I used were complete usless f**ks who keep f**king things up and bullshitting to me...no wonder they're folding.

Could be worth a trip up the M11 to Offords - I've only heard good things about them. Failing that, I've had good service from both Racing green (not too far down the M3) and Peninsula (but it's quite a drive from London)

Try Walldonway in Maidstone, M20, not far from London and they know what they are doing!!
