Hi people

Santa was very good to me this year as along with the socks and bad aftershave came tickets to Goodwood FoS

Now I have never been so looking for a regular attendee that has for some top tips.

What I have been given is the basic 3-day pass.

Any comments thoughts good places to watch go how busy is it should I buy anything else -

So you experienced Goodwooders what’s the game?

Cheers

Geoff

First thing is, if you're going all 3 days, pace yourself! It gets very busy on Sat and Sun. I prefer going round the pits on Friday, they get *very* busy on the other days. Also, get there early, traffic is a nightmare.

Top viewing spots are the start line, outside the house (especially Sunday when the F1 boys do tricks for the crowd ), and the top of the hill where the quicker stuff really shifts. Even in 3 days there's too much stuff to see.

To whet your appetite, check out my Goodwood galleries here and here

You'll have a great time, it's always my best event of the year.

Thanks for this - as you point out its busy, is it possible see anything without a ticket to one of the grandstands or is it a must have?

At most circuits I tend to shun the grandstands and go for a wander.

What do people think ?

I went for the 3 days last year...and never bothered with a grandstand ticket.
There is a sequence of runs that make the programme - This is then run in the morning and then repeated in the afternoon - and is essentially the same for the 3 days.
Opposite the house was imo the best view point - as there's also a screen there to watch the start and finish.
However, I also enjoyed watching at the start and the top of the hill.
So my suggestion is to move around Friday and Saturday - but stay fixed Sunday (it is just too crowded then)
...and rather than leave straight away Saturday night - stay behind and watch all the drivers (and partners) enter the House for the Ball.

Other tip is to book accomadation early.
