After having briefly borrowed one of these from a friend to record a few track laps:

I'm looking at getting something similar. Anyone got any other recommendations?

Might be worth checking out Biker Banter or Track Day forums; the mention of cams seems to come up quite a lot. FWIW, the dogcamsport seems to be widely recommended by others, although I have no experience in the matter.

Is it for a car, bike, or are you planning on selling train journey DVDs to the anorak'd masses?nerd

I haven't tried it yet in a car, but I bought on of the Traveler DV5000s for 35 quid at the weekend on ebay after seeing a vid from Nurburgsingh

It's for car use, maybe the odd Ring trip but they don't allow cams so hence why a tiny hidden cam would be suitable.

That Traveler footage looks great for a cheap camera, but the camera itself looks a little bulky to be hidden.

Something to do with not wanting to portray a bad image of the Nordschlife should footage of fatality make it's way onto the internet. Apparently it's happened already hence they've been banned. Don't know what the penalties are for being caught with a hidden bullet cam are though.

You'll be banned for the day.
Get caught again and they'll ban you for the rest of the year.

If the camera is obviously not hidden, they will sometimes assume you are an ignoramus and just tell you to take it down.

I have an HQ1 camera from Dogcam sport, excellent camera, nice fast light response and good colours . . . I record it on a chasecam PVR but (I bought it second hand and chose it specifically as I can remote control it the way I want) . . . but there are many cheaper ways to do the recording . . . an analogue in miniDV tape camera being about the best quality wise . . . I and other I know have destroyed a few of them with vibration issues so went solid state . . . I'm very happy with both devices . . .
