From a thread in Essex section - named and shamed...

Hi, im new to the site.

Heard about it from a mate when i asked about the sticker on his polo...so i figured id sign up.

Other thing was that it might be worth mentioning its not going to do the site any favours the way people on here are driving...

coming through maidstone the other day, up near allington. road starts off in two lanes, then closes in to one. ive got a vauxhall nova, with a 1.2 engine as a cheapy runabout till i can get my mini going again...now with four mates onboard its not the quickest of things i know...anyway.

ive pulled off the lights, fairly slow and sensible because theres someone infront. driving on the speed limit, doing nothing wrong, not having cut anyone up or anything...next thing i know, a bright yellow lotus, shoots up alongside me just as the road goes into single lane, when im about a car length behind the guy infront. he then starts beeping at me, and decides to realy boot it and swerve infront of me as the road turns into one lane. i nearly hit the back of the stupid c*** and he must have damn near traded paint with the guy infront.

so i slam my brakes on to miss him. he then tailgates the car infront up to the nearest roundabout, whereby i take the left hand lane and carry on as normal. he then drops back in the right hand lane behind me, just to at the roundabout as i pull off, boot it past me skimming my car, beeping and swearing at me out the window. at which point i spot a black pistonheads logo on the right hand side of the rear bumper.

car was a yellow lotus elise, with a private plate: P6 ****

Whoever he may be, im pretty sure he's on here somewhere, and if he drives like that all the time then he's not going to be doing your image any favours at all. (and yes im sure ill get steriotyped for driving a nova, but its cheap to run, cheap to insure, and the things always been reliable - i have no intentions whatsoever on "alloys, a phat bodykit, and some banging sterio")

So id be quite up for hearing the explanation for that one....i dont have a clue what he's trying to prove pulling downright dangerous overtakes at high speed..i mean the challenge of overtaking a 1.2 nova with four people in it realy is such a challenge with a car like that.

Sorry to start off on a negative note - im sure not everyones like that on here, just one person being a muppet. but i just thought id say something as its not going to get you great publicity.
Tut tut...

Whats wrong with what the lad is saying. Is it so hard to beleive that somebody in an Elise may drive like a tw@t?

No, not really biggrin

I expect his post was prompted more by the fact that is had a PH sticker.

Lotus driver has issue with Nova driver. Nova drive did nothing to warrant such aggression. We are not getting the entire story here.

Ok I do not want to sound like I believe all Lotus drivers are road saints so to put it in to context.

If it were a Ferrari driver having an issue with a Lotus, but the Lotus driver had allegedly done nothing wrong. I would have a big question mark over the Lotus driver given the price of a Ferrari and the NCB you are going to need to drive such a thing. Both may be car enthusiasts, but one is paying a lot more for the privilege and isn’t going to take issue for the hell of it.
