Daft Nikon question

Hi Chaps, can anybody answer a very daft question regarding a D90?.......... somehow I've mananged to set the camera so the numbering system resets every time I put a blank card in it, I've looked through the manual and searched on the online help and cant see anything

Scroll down to d Shooting/Display
Scroll down to 7 and set to ON
