Wouldnt mind a remote shutter release for my Nikon D40 so I can leave the shutter open for more than 30 seconds, is it possible to use one with this camera?
I cant find a way to get it into "bulb" mode.

Bulb mode is only available in full manual mode, just slow the shutter speed right down then bulb should appear.

As for the remote release, there is this: link.

It does its job brilliantly, mine has been perfect.

I use on of those two- in bulb mode, while using the remote, you press once to open the shutter, then go have a cup of tea, then press the remote again to close the shutter. Great for light trails, night time stuff etc.

Took me ages to figure out where the setting for the remote control mode is in the menu though.
