After getting back from the Ring at the weekend I've decided I want to lower my 3.0l M3, just wondering what options you guys recommend.

Out of interest why are you getting rid Dan? And what are you replacing them with?

Springs alone bad idea, did have Eibachs & new dampers on an old e36 & was great on road, still not really up to it on track naturally as too soft.

(tho I do know fella who does run that & on a stripped & caged track & ring e36 m too & hes happy with the set up)

If the budget is really tight Wietec or BC racing jobbies really are the only semi decent solution IMHO.

I run the BC inverted jobbies no complaints, well perhaps a noisy damper at present which I'll see how their warranty dept deals with oh & the antiroll bar drop links needed modifying too, but this is a £700 new kit, pss9 nowadays is £1500 even a cheap koni coilover set up is a grand & so is the Gaz, while intrax, Moton, Penske, are in a slightly diferent league! & for some of the set ups= more than you can pick an e36 m3 up for!smile

With a bit more budget but not huge ££ then KW clubsports would have been my goal but suspension at about 70& of the cars value is a tad much for me!

Off topic Alex, but I saw your old E30 at the Ring this weekend and had a passenger lap from Nige in his MK2 Golf.

Crikey really my old e30! it was blooming rotton tho it not have wanted to 'ring it unless its had a lot of welding!

Did it still have my lizardlogistics sunstrip on it?

You know Nige is down to 8.33 BTG in that Golf now! pretty darn good going

Yeah we spotted it at Spa as we were having a nose around on the way down, no sunstrip on it but I reckonised the black and red livery. Sounds like it's changed hands a couple of times since you sold it. It did look damn rotton though, even as a casual observer.

Nige's lap was one of the highlights of the weekend, what was most impressive was the way he could talk through everything he was doing on the way round. The fact that he's doing 8:33 with only 160bhp says it all.

lol, he took a mate of mine out for a lap once, and set a decent time, and that was with an F1 style pitstop for fuel at Breidscheid!

I had my overweight e36 round the ring on Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers and it was fine. Even Don Palmer commented on a coaching day as to how well it handled on that setup. Honestly if my homebrewed special can get round with no problems then your M3 should manage it some way better.

Maybe a better way of looking at it is to go for the Eibach springs as a stopgap on the way to getting a set of KW Variant 3's.....

Great that the e30 is still going then, was strong mechanically, just rotty rotty rot rot.

Can't give too much credit to the Northern Monkey Golfer tho he's in the 1000laps ballpark, heck even my cat could do mid 8s with that amount of laps wink

I learnt more from that single lap than from driving round 12 laps myself. Thanks again Nigel thumbup
