Has anyone seen the man thats been sitting next to the road outside the Mercedes dealers in Dartford? He's been sat outside for weeks now with a board with some kind of acronym of 'Mercedes' on it - anyone know his story?

Ask google

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/4533556.DARTFORD...

Oh, a rusty E-Class! Who would have thought it.

"Mercedes says that although the car has long been out of warranty, the company is willing to foot half the costs of repairs.

The Dartford retailer was originally prepared to pay the other half, but withdrew its offer since the protest began.

However Mercedes says Mr Pavey also wanted repair of stone chips and bird lime damage that came through the car’s use over its life.

A spokeswoman said: “We feel offering to pay 100 per cent of the cost of repair for an privately-bought unknown car that’s not had a service history with us for six years was reasonable.”

Google is your friend:

FOR five weeks, Chris Pavey has been standing outside a Mercedes garage, in a suit with a placard, protesting about the state of his car.

The 51-year-old says his Mercedes E55 AMG is rusting from the inside outwards, and his one-man demonstration will continue until Mercedes agrees to strip, and respray his car free-of-charge, or provide a replacement.

Mr Pavey, of Bramble Avenue, Bean, stands outside Mercedes Benz in Burnham Road, Dartford, every day while also finding time for his job as a freelance sales and marketing consultant.

The father-of-one said: “I intend to keep this up for as long as it takes.

“It’s the most direct way of making a statement and to get action.”

blah blah blah blah.. . rest of article not copied

Surely standing there for five weeks or more is costing him a hell of a lot more than just either getting it fixed himself or selling and buying something else! It won't get him anywhere (cutting off his nose to spite his face or whatever the phrase is!)

How bizarre.

If I read that right, Mercedes have offered to pay half and the dealer has offered to pay half.

So what's his problem?? confused

What an utter cocksocket.

If he hasn't managed to get a result, or at least significantly more favourable coverage than that, in 5 weeks, then I'd say all he's doing is advertising what an ineffectual 'sales & marketing consultant' he is.

no, i think Mercedes and the dealer have agreed to foot half the bill, with him paying the other half..

which seems reasonable given the circumstances.

So he's got a used car that hasn't been to an MB dealer for six years, that's out of warranty, and they've agreed to repair it free of charge but he wants more.

Why could this possibly be?

Oh yeah, now I remember. Because the customer is always right. Like fk they are.

He's lucky, MB told us to effectively sod off with our company W210 E55.

Total bucket of a car, nice engine though

Can't say fairer than that...

I think they've offered to pay for the repair of the vehicle, but he wants it to be totally stripped and re-sprayed. I think he's an idiot who's going to be standing there a very long time and should have taken the offer at the time.

Apparently this is costing him a grand a week in lost revenue, so he could have easily paid for the work himself by now...

If I judge this right (and I am wrong, occasionally) this isn't a dispute, it's pointless self promotion - the dealer / mercedes response is irrelevant. This would certainly explain the fact that he is behaving completely irrationally froma customer perspective.

Having known other 'marketing' professionals who have done similar stunts in the past - I would also hazard that he is deeply annoying to work with and it's no wonder that he is currently "freelance"... wink

I feel sorry for the dealer, even if the car is a pile of junk, what's that got to do with the local dealer? He has no right to make such a potentially negative impact on the business of a totally unrelated third party.
