Hi all, my car is almost back on the road after an engine rebuild - will post all the lovely pics soon, especially what the inside of the engine looked like before eek

After all the work I'm wondering what the best alarm/immobiliser system is for the S series. Anyone have recommendations and if so, why?

Cheers

Hi Pierce wavey

I've been fortunate that all of my TVR's have come fitted with a working alarm so it's one thing I've not needed to tinker with. Although I've not used him Carl Baker is often recommended in the General TVR Forum. Not a million miles from you either....

Am looking forward to some pic's of the new engine wink

Cheers Longers! It's the big test today see if the car will run before I pick it up tomorrow right in time for my birthday and a bank holiday weekend - sounds to good be true? Well, it is a TVR...

No one else got any recommendations - like Toad, Clifford etc? scratchchin

i had an sterling alarm/ immobilizer fitted to my V8S not too long ago and posted details here on this forum. I am very happy with it and the fitter also connected it to my boot release so i dont have to turn the ignition to unlock the boot biggrin

Isn't that the idea though, so boot can't be opened when parked with top off ? ?

I think he is saying that the aux button on the key fob is wired to open the boot on the car.. the switch should not work when parked up.. just the key fob and if they have that then the boots a pretty moot point really.

I will do this when I fit my new Toad A606i + Microwave (its a convertible) and Tilt sensor.. I will also install a set of central locking actuators so the alarm unlocks the doors too. BTW the Toad has 2 such buttons I may set the other to headlights so I can see up the drive on dark winters nights not sure.

No experience yet but will post experiences of the Toad on here when I get the car back and install.

Cheers

Ah ha, didn't know you could have clever little tricks like that ! makes more sense now.

My immobiliser is fairly basic just stops engine starting unless fob is near ign. switch but hopefully enough to stop "oppertunist" thieves ?
