ok, i nearly put a dipper on an elise today but got scared, the car is in newcastle, its a 98 s1 with 24 on the clock in azuri blue, its got a de-cat pipe and looks like uprated brakes, looks in nice condition, its upp 4 10k but i got them down to £9200 it was ok untill he said there were 2 bits of damage, under both sills, there are 2 scuffs, and chips to the paint and glass fibre, they are out of view, also on the bk just above the exhaust there is a slight crazing stress mark very very faint, should i be worried or is this ok, also is it easy to repair the sills.

basicly what do you think im looking to spend 9k realy on a nice example, let me know of any alternitives.

the car is bottom one on this link

Did you ask how the damage was caused? Sounds a bit strange, the only kind of thing that I can think of that would cause that type of thing is if the car was 'beached' on a high kerb or similar, in which case I'd want to check that there was not chassis damage.

You need to get a local Lotus specialist to check the car over. That's strong money (£9,200) for what looks like a pretty boggo S1. A well used and cared for car may well serve you better - the cars take miles very well. Stone chips on the front of the car and sills (and elsewhere!) are normal for an Elise - light colours tend not to show them so much, but damage to the sills is not.
BTW, text speak doesn't go down very well on here nono

What Tipper said.

If you want a nice example, you're better off not paying a non-specialist dealer for a car, especially at that price, and even more so if you're not able to get it checked over by a proper specialist.

I would get to with reading the buyers guide if you've not already, then start keeping an eye on the classifieds here and on SELOC, and on the other owners club site like NYLOC.

I would say walk away.

you could get a similar car without the damage for the same money IMHO.

Lots in the ads on here which have no damage for less ££ at the moment.
