Wolfenstein - Fantastic!
Discussion
Thought this was going to be a right let down and very nearly cancelled my order, so SO glad i didnt. its flippin good fun.
its basically on the COD engine, so controls are very nearly the same, graphics are the same except you now have loads more gore
Slow motion and a fire axe make for huge fun!!

err i think its as good yes, its fairly natural progression,
When you hear about the 'veil' you may think (as i did) oh god they have ruined it with some slow motion malarky!! it doesnt need it tbh, its a good game a kind of takes the edge off it for me. Having said that one of the most fun things is going in slow motion and chopping people up.
its the first time in a long while i've had a game that i cant put down!!

I am enjoying it as a gap filler, but it's no RTCW or COD4/5......
Chopping someones head off with the axe and hearing the blood gurgling out is a bit of a touch though. You get the same effect when shooting them in the throat, IIRC ?
Very short as well, 9 hours to completion on 'normal' for a 1st run seemed a bit poor
This was while trying to look for all the gold/intel as well, so on a straight run with no messing about, it would be over in no time.
Online is dire as well, ok when the ping is good, but for me, 99% of the time it is rubbish
Host gets full ping and then nails everyone with a massive K/D ratio
It's not my connection either, as I am fine on any other game.
Will be starting/finishing on uber difficulty and then taking it back at the weekend to swap for Batman

I hired it from blockbuster for the week, played it for about half an hour and then took it back early. I found it appalling and the graphics didn't even seem up to scratch.
Certainly not one for me and I'm so glad I rented it first as I nearly bought it outright earlier in the day!
each to their own, im loving it!!!Certainly not one for me and I'm so glad I rented it first as I nearly bought it outright earlier in the day!
i know what you mean about COD veteran... lost count of times it almost went out the window!
It's pretty good, rented it for a week, which is all I think it will last for. Playing it on Hard with no Auto aim and it's fairly challenging if limited.
Reminds me a little of the original Deus Ex, it's a nice change from all of the serious war sims I have been playing.
Will be a great rental or second hand purchase.

A great single player game, but completely ruined by crap glitches online like...
Money not transfering between matches, Long loading for getting into matches, Getting into a new online game only to be spawned without a weapon in a third person view, The same thing but spawn as your dead and still been able to move around the map. The last 2 don't stop untill the match is finished...
Seems not only are they having problems fixing these issues, but they seem to be having problems in organising simple competitions aswell.

Mine went back last week, as managed to finish on 'Uber' setting within about 7 hours, it almost seems embarrassing (for the makers) that it was the hardest setting
What weapon would be the best for taking down the last boss on Uber difficulty. I'm already half way through, so it would be nice to be prepared.
Your opinions please?
yeah the uber is rather easy - apparently the only change in gameplay is the bosses are a bit harder to kill on uber.
as for the last one

Hans Grosse will appear on the descending tower. fire rockets or cannon blasts at him and he should plop down.
Close to your second battle with him except he has run out of resources.
Stay out on the outskirts of the odd circular like battle arena and keep your distance. Turn on empower and blast the crap out o him. with a few deliciously place shots he should finally collaspe.
Shove another crystal into his chest and wave good bye.

I'm really enjoying this now.
I like the combination of new-school play dynamicas from the CoD engine combined with old-school mental weapons, hidden rooms and boss battles.
I'm also glad they got rid of CoD's infinately spawning enemies, that really pisses me off in FPS's
It has got a lot of atmosphere as well.
Anyone who has completed it in 7 hours must have really rushed, which for me seems to defeat the point.
Anyway yes it does seem a little easy, I'm doing it on Hard mode with no Auto Aim and it's not difficult, the levels make it too easy to tunnel the enemies into a corridor and just gun them down... like the Nazi dogs they are!
