ECU Diagnostics Lead SP6

Im looking for the diagnostics lead and need advice please.
Would any of these do?

A freind of mine has the software on his laptop and tried to connect to my 3 pin (drivers side) but could'nt connect but it works on his sag.
TVR Power used the 16pin connector on the passenger side and that works ok.
Could the 3 pin be faulty?This is the reason i favour the ebay one.
I realise i will have to use a adaptor and i have the software.

I thought SPD6 were not OBD2 systems ?
If so "ebay" cable would not work, however I stand to be corrected.

That's the first time I've heard of an ODB connector working...my 3 pin works fine but never managed to get the ODB connector working...wouldn't suprise me if TVR only ever connected one but not both.... your car wasn't a overseas order by any chance... I thought ODB was a EU standard these days.

No idea about the overseas bit mate.
So would the ebay one work as the 3 pin does'nt appear to work?

Could this be the protocol ?

I would have thought the 16pin needs OBD protocol, whilst the 3 pin is the MBE ?

Do you know what software Power used ?

- Update: just checked my passenger footwell, and cannot find an ODB socket.

Same software as my mates sag well it looks the same and it the same as in Graham Varleys manual.

I bought ODB connector off e-bay and it was fully wired (well more than just TD (Transmit Data),RD (Receive Data) and Signal Ground) that TVR use.... So I cut them all off, re-soldered to TVRs spec (also as per the Sag Worksop Manual)... still didn't work ... so I concluded the passenger side ODB connector wasn't attached to the ECU...but I've never traced the wiring and checked it out.

Don't think the RS232C interface is sophisticated enough to use any thing clever, no hardware flow control (RTS/CTS),no carrier (DCD),or Data Terminal Ready(DTR) and never seen any software flow control XON/XOFF (DC1/DC3). Just Async 9600bps ASCII without parity.

I assume you're using your mates PC aswell as his lead...I use a Clevor Trevor lead on the 3 pin with an old PC with a serial port (i.e. no USB serial converter)
